Spring is here and in my opinion the MOST beautiful & refreshing season of all.
If you have followed along for awhile now you would know that i like to live my life in season's. I like to do this in every area of my life. I feel like it makes life a little more vibrant and helps keep things alive!!
Having change is so good for your life.
Spring is a really good time for de- cluttering our lives. The house, social expectations, technology, your skincare drawer (the entire bathroom cupboard) the groceries, your wardrobe, basically everything. Its a time for fresh new beginings allowing space for fresh new desires!!
De-cluttering is essential for mental clarity, emotional well-being, and productivity. Physical clutter—like piles of unused items—creates visual noise that can overwhelm the mind, leading to stress and anxiety. It makes me feel physically sick and overwhelmed, like those small things that just kink your hose slowly grinding away at yout soul for months. Mental clutter, such as unresolved tasks or toxic relationships, drains energy and distracts us from what truly matters. By clearing out what no longer serves us, we create space for meaningful experiences, better decision-making, more simplicity in our lives and just a better flow. A simple life helps me to focus, feel more at ease, opens my creativity, and gives me a really nice sense of peace. It helps me live more intentionally.
Lets start with the house.
House- To declutter your house put on some smooth FM and start by tackling one area at a time, such as a drawer, closet, or room, to avoid feeling overwhelmed. Use the "keep, donate, or discard" method, evaluating each item’s usefulness and sentimental value. Get brutal, dont end up throwing 2 items and keeping 10. Keep 2 and biff 10.When it comes to paperwork, file it or keep it digital. Recycle what’s unnecessary. Invest in storage solutions like bins, shelves, or organizers to give every item a designated space. Practice the "one in, one out" rule—whenever you bring something new into the house, let go of a similar item. Declutter regularly to prevent buildup and adopt good habits - make the bed or tidying up daily. Focusing on functionality and keeping only what adds value helps maintain a clean, stress-free home. Every time you buy something- stop and think- Do i even want this?
With clothes- stick to a few good brands and stop buying shit. Then archive each season.
Skincare (bathroom drawer).
Decluttering skincare means we need to simplify your routine by identifying what truly benefits your skin and letting go of unnecessary cheap crap that sits in your drawer all year slowly annoying you. Start by checking expiration dates, as old products can lose effectiveness or cause irritation. Sort items into little compartments—cleanser, serum, moisturiser,SPF and treatments- keep only what suits your current skin needs. ONE OF EACH. Get rid of the rest. Avoid holding onto products "just in case" or because they were expensive; instead, donate unopened items to friends. Focus on products that work, have great delivery systems and streamline your routine. Organize your essentials in accessible containers to maintain a clutter-free space, and commit to using what you have before buying new products. A simplified skincare routine not only reduces waste but also ensures consistency and better results. I recommend medical grade skincare majority of the time. If you have an impaired barrier and feel irritated book in for an appointment and i can get you on track.
Technology
Decluttering technology is one that nobody ever thinks is ruining their day lol. Its the worst one. Its essential to reduce digital stress to chill more and improve productivity. Start by deleting unused apps, files, and programs from your devices to free up storage and reduce clutter. Organise your digital life by sorting photos, documents, and emails into folders, and unsubscribe from unnecessary newsletters or notifications. Clear your desktop and home screen, keeping only frequently used icons. Take a look at your tech devices—if you have old gadgets that no longer serve a purpose, recycle or donate them, just get them away from you and out of the house. Simplify your tech ecosystem by reducing! Use less apps or platforms that do useless stuff you dont need or overlap. Regular maintenance, like updating software and backing up data makes it all a smoother experience. A streamlined digital space feels better and gives you peace in your body and mind. Choose a time of day to check social media and share. Use it all wisely. There is truth in - too much of a good thing.
Food.
Decluttering your food and choosing whole foods can simplify your eating/cooking and grocery bill dramatically and simply put,it is vital for your health. Start by organising your pantry and fridge, get rid of expired items and foods high in preservatives, seed oils or refined shit. Stop buying it. Prioritise stocking whole foods—like fresh fruits, vegetables, protein, eggs and food that nourishes your body. Streamline meal planning by focusing on versatile ingredients that can be used across multiple recipes, minimising food waste. Keep your kitchen organised by storing staples in clear containers and labeling them for easy access. A decluttered food environment not only makes cooking more enjoyable but also encourages mindful eating and healthier choices, leading to a simpler and more intentional life. Much cheaper and so good for our cells. (And our kids)
Last one - Finances.
Decluttering your finances is about simplifying money management to reduce stress and improve financial well-being. Start by reviewing your accounts, subscriptions (so annoying) and expenses so you can clearly see any unnecessary costs—like unused memberships or impulse purchases— cancel or cut them. Create a budget that aligns with your goals and focus on paying off high-interest debt to free up future cash flow. Embrace mindful spending by prioritising experiences and needs over wants. A decluttered financial life provides greater clarity, control, and peace of mind, helping you stay focused on building long-term security and freedom. Make iot a game, make it fun, teach your kids.
